Romanian Ostomy Association
Romanian Ostomy Association – non-profit and non-governmental organization, founded in 1996.
The membership number is around 800. The members of R.O.A. are mainly people living in south-easthern part of Romania, people with ileo-, colo- or urostoma, relatives , nurses and other supporters of the people who have a stoma. Each member has a membership card which is endorsed monthly or every three months. Monthly fee is about 0,8 euro , but it is optional – not mandatary for all our members. During the weekend of 16 – 17 April 2016 IA (the Ileostomy and Internal Pouch Support Group) celebrated their 60th anniversary. I was invited by the executive committee of IA to attend this special meeting in Hinckley, United Kingdom. It was very special for me to be together with more than 200 members of IA.
On Saturday morning 16th April, Professor Neil Mortensen, National President of IA, welcomed everyone to the meeting and the President of the local member organisation, Leicestershire IA, opened the meeting with a warm speech. Looking back – Moving forward was the theme for this national meeting.

Change of IA national secretary and office relocation now complete.
Rochford, 2nd March 2016, Following the retirement of Anne Demick, IA National Secretary, IA is pleased to announce the appointment of Jackie King. Jackie joins IA with a strong background in administration management having worked in both the public and private sectors, at senior level, for many years. Jackie moved into the charity sector in recent years, working at both a national and local level, for a UK-based charity, from where she joins IA.

The 40th Anniversary of ILCO Österreich in Vienna
At least 150 ostomates, some of them with the husband or the wife or with a son or a daughter, wanted to rally round their Association for its 40th Anniversary. And that was already an expression of affection for the Association which did not make them to feel alone and that gave them the confidence to be supported when they need and also the possibility to know other ostomates and other friends. But, really, let’s not forget, behind any organization, especially behind the voluntary associations, there are always people and their thank was directed to all the persons who leaded ILCO Österreich during its 40 years of life: now, they are Susanne Deimel and Margit Kirnbauer (respectively president and secretary of ILCO Österreich) above all, but also the other helping persons like Gerda Karner (president of the Vienna’s club) and all the others that I do not know.
